For the 11th successive season the SAINT-OMER OPEN presented by Neuflize OBC will take place at the Aa Saint Omer Golf Club in northern France. Once again, it will also have the honour of being the only event in 2010 to be dual ranked between The European Tour and the European Challenge Tour.
Last year’s winner was Sweden’s Christian Nilsson who put the experience of narrowly missing out on the title to England’s David Dixon in 2008 to good use when the opportunity presented itself once again 12 months later.
As he had been in 2008, Nilsson held pole position as the tournament moved into its final round but this time he made no mistake, a bogey free round of 69 turning his four shot advantage at the start of the day into a six shot winning total over second placed José-Filipe Lima, with the rest of the field a distant spot on the horizon. Indeed the four players who shared third place on three under par 281 finished a full ten shots adrift of the Swede.
Nilsson’s reward was a European Tour exemption until the end of this season, one he took advantage of in 2009 to finish 90th on The Race to Dubai.
