Genworth's Putts4Charity initiative, which is closing in on the €600,000 mark for good causes, took on a new twist at the 3 Irish Open when European Tour professionals, representing the Tour Players' Foundation, pitted their skills against some well known TV commentators .

Dougie Donnelly challenged young Irish golfing star Gareth Maybin, narrowly beating him to secure a €1000 'big money' one putt donated by the Genworth Foundation, with Genworth's brand ambassador Ross Fisher challenging Irish TV presenter Shane O'Donoghue and Wayne Riley from Sky Sports taking on David Howell.

During the 3 Irish Open, Putts4Charity will benefit Barnardos children's charity.

“We are absolutely delighted to have teamed up with Genworth” said Barnardos Chief Executive in Ireland, Fergus Finlay. “The spectator numbers at the 3 Irish Open are hugely boosted by visitors to the area during the holiday season – it’s a superb event. We drew quite a crowd when we staged the challenge on TV. Lets hope as many visitors as possible stop by Genworth's Putts4Charity greens and make a one putt. Each one is worth a further €1 to Barnardos”.

Putts4Charity helps raise funds for good causes by challenging the general public to make a successful “one putt” on specially constructed greens at various stops along The European Tour.

For each successful one putt made at the 3 Irish Open, the Genworth Foundation makes a €1 donation to charity.  Similarly, every one putt made by professionals competing in the tournament raises €2.
