Greens
Type of grass - old greens: 50% Bent / 50% Poa Annua, new greens: fescue
Height of cut - old greens: 2.8mm / new greens: 4.0mm
Speed / stimpmeter reading - 10.2 (Wednesday am)
Any specific comments - since the last KLM Open played at Hilversumsche GC in 2005 the course has been redesigned by Kyle Phillips and there are five new greens: 1st, 3rd, 14th, 15th and 18th

Type of grass - Smoothstalk Meadow Grass and Bent
Height of cut - 11mm
General width and contouring - reasonably wide, some fairways are heavily contoured: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 12th and 18th

Tees / collars
Type of grass - Bent & Rye
Height of cut - 9mm
Any specific comments - as part of Kyle Phillips' redesign new tees have been built on the 9th, 13th and 14th holes

Rough
Type of grass - Rye and Fescue
Height of cut - semi 30mm, intermediate 51mm, rough unmaintained
Any specific comments - rough is not too penal due to lack of growth

Weather in advance - extremely wet the last 2 weeks with an excess of 200mm of rain
Forecast for tournament - chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms Thursday and Sunday, partly cloudy and dry Friday and Saturday

Course
Opened - 1910
Course designer - Hilversumsche Golf Club started in 1910 so this year is the Club’s Centenary. The 1st 9 holes (tournament holes 1,2 & 13-18) were designed by Henry Burrows and opened in 1922. The next 9 holes (tournament holes 3-12) were designed by H.S.Colt and opened 1928. The course then underwent considerable alterations in 1954 & 1964 and has been revamped by Kyle Phillips in 2008/2009. Kyle Phillips' alterations include new greens on holes 1, 3, 14, 15 & 18, new back tees on holes 1, 9, 13 & 14 and new fairway bunkers on holes 16 & 17.
