This week European Tour Weekly comes from the Olympic Club, San Francisco as the world’s top golfers prepare for the second Major of the year, the US Open. Twelve months ago Rory McIlroy produced one of the greatest performances of all time in securing his first Major, setting numerous records along the way. His overall aggregate score of 268 was the lowest in US Open history and he was also the youngest European Tour Major Champion since The European Tour was formed. ETW will be on the course getting the thoughts of the players as they prepare to attempt to replace McIlroy as US Open champion.
McIlroy’s record breaking win was the catalyst for a run of form that culminated in him becoming World Number One in March 2012. ETW talks to the man he briefly deposed, Luke Donald, about life at the top, the pressures associated with being the best golfer in the world, and his battle with both McIlroy and Lee Westwood for the top spot.
Westwood has been preparing for the US Open in Sweden and we will show how the World Number Three, along with a top class field, all fared in the Nordea Masters.
It’s been a big week for the Seniors as well, as they gathered at Slaley Hall Northumberland, for the ISPS Handa PGA Seniors Championship, and ETW will bring all the best action from the tournament.
And in what rounds off a busy week of action we will have all the news from the Golf Club Klagenfurt-Seltenheim as The Challenge Tour visits Austria for the Kärnten Golf Open presented by Mazda.
Together with all of the latest news and statistics from the Tour, this completes another edition of European Tour Weekly.
