Tournament History

Fairy tales don’t come much sweeter than last year’s Open Championship at Royal St George’s where Darren Clarke finally achieved Major glory. It was a spirited display from the Northern Irishman, who followed in the Major footsteps of compatriots Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell, eventually winning by three strokes from American duo Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson. In 2012 the Championship returns to Royal Lytham & St Annes for the first time since 2001 where David Duval picked up his first Major Championship title.
