Tournament History

Having hosted a number of tournaments over the years – including the WGC-American Express Invitational, the season-ending Volvo Masters and the 1997 Ryder Cup – Valderrama returned to the schedule in 2010 to host the first Andalucía Masters. This inaugural event was won by Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell who braved some really tough scoring conditions over the weekend to see off the title aspirations of Soren Kjeldsen, compatriot Gareth Maybin and Damien McGrane by two shots. In 2011 the Spanish fans were treated to a duel between two established European Tour winners and Ryder Cup heroes – Sergio Garcia and Miguel Ángel Jiménez. The battle would go all the way down to the very last hole, with neither player willing to give in, but eventually Garcia would tap in for victory at the last to make it two in a row on The European Tour having won the previous week at home in Castellon.
