The International Federation of PGA Tours today confirmed that the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship has agreed a ten-year extension with Trump Doral as the event’s host resort and course through 2023.
The WGC – Cadillac Championship, which is the second in a series of four World Golf Championships, has been played at Trump Doral since 2007.
The 2013 event will again feature the best players from around the world on March 6-10, with Justin Rose attempting to defend his title against the likes of Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson, Luke Donald, Adam Scott, Bubba Watson and many more of the game’s best.
The TRUMP HOTEL COLLECTION™ purchased Miami's iconic Doral Golf Resort & Spa in June 2012 and will be facilitating a US$200 million renovation to restore Doral to its former grandeur. Trump Doral has five championship golf courses, including the legendary tournament course, the Blue Monster and has been host of the PGA Tour for over 50 years.
“It is a great honour to have such a long-term extension with the PGA Tour. They know how great this facility will become. It will be the finest anywhere in the United States,” said Donald J. Trump.
“We are pleased to hear that the Trump Organization is committed to the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship for the next decade,” said Bob Ferguson, Vice President, Global, Cadillac.
“This can only mean the event will continue to improve and thereby continue to grow its charitable footprint in South Florida. The entire team at Cadillac is excited to see the partnership between the PGA Tour, the Trump Organization and Cadillac take the Cadillac Championship to new levels.”
