• By shooting 60 on the final day to record his maiden European Tour title in 2009, Rafael Cabrera-Bello became just the third player in European Tour history to fire this number and win. He follows Ian Woosnam (1990 Monte Carlo Open) and Jamie Spence (1992 European Masters).

• By recording 18 straight pars in the final day in 2008, Jeev Milkha Singh claimed the title and became just the second golfer to win a European Tour event after compiling 18 par figures in the last round. The Indian follows Sir Nick Faldo who achieved the feat in the 1987 Open Championship at Muirfield, to claim the first of his six Major Championships.

• Bernd Wiesberger made history in 2012 when he claimed the title. After his maiden triumph at the 2012 Ballantine’s Championship, he went onto become the first Austrian to record multiple victories in the same European Tour season.

• Markus Brier became the first Austrian golfer to win on The European Tour, when he claimed his national championship in 2006. That year it was played at the Fontana Golf Club, where he was attached. This year the tournament is hosted by the Diamond Country Club, where Brier is currently attached. Should he win he would be the first player in European Tour history to win the same event on two different courses and be attached to them both.

• Bernd Wiesberger, has played in his home open eight previous times (both when the tournament was part of The European and Challenge Tour). Other than his win in 2012, he finished tied fourth as an amateur in 2004 and tied fifth in 2011.

• German amateur Max Kramer, made European Tour history in the 2006 tournament by becoming the first amateur to record an albatross. He achieved the feat at Fontana’s ninth hole in round one, using a six iron from 180 yards.
