Jason Dufner was edging towards his first Major Championship as Henrik Stenson and Jim Furyk tried to keep the pressure on in the final round of the US PGA Championship at Oak Hill.

Dufner, who had equalled the lowest score in Major history with his second round 63, started the day one behind compatriot Furyk but birdied the fourth, fifth and eighth thanks to some pinpoint approach play.

At 11 under par he led by two from Furyk with four holes remaining, the former US Open Champion having made a costly bogey on the ninth by missing the green with his approach after hitting his first fairway of the day.

Swedish pair Stenson and Jonas Blixt were another shot behind with three holes remaining.
