The winning team!
14:35
Teams take their seats for the closing ceremony and Europe will soon have their hands on the Seve Trophy.
14:14

Let the celebrations begin!

14:13

It's been a long wait but Europe have won the Seve Trophy for the first time since the inaugural event in 2000. And so ends a run of six straight defeats.

14:07

That's it - Molinari has just birdied the 16th from 12 feet for a 3 and 2 win and Continental Europe have won the Seve Trophy!

Match 1: Castano and Donaldson - Seve Trophy by Golf Day 4

Video
14:05

Reaction from the course from the earlier finishers now showing on the Live Blog.

14:03

Great putt from Chris Wood to keep GB&I hopes alive. Molinari made a great two putt from distance for a birdie four on the 15th so Wood had to make his four or it would have been dormy three down and the half point Europe need would be secure. But after a wonderful approach having found sand off the tee, he holed from ten feet to remain two down with three to play. He has to win all the remaining holes though otherwise the trophy goes to Europe.

13:43

Lovely pitch from the side of the 17th green for Paul Lawrie sets up a birdie and that another point for GB&I. Scores now 14-13. One match on the course.

13:38

Scrappy hole on the 13th as hole halved in fives in the anchor match. Few months ago Molinari was in this situation against a certain Woods at Medinah. Can he hold firm against Wood this time?

13:32

Chris Wood two down to Francesco Molinari playing the 13th and needs to turn it around for GB&I if they are to tie and take contest into a play-off. Paul Lawrie two up with three to play on Mikko Ilonen. The Finn had a great chance to win the 15th but missed from five feet. Lawrie two up with two to play.

13:28

Hats off to Gregory Bourdy - first player to win five out of five. What a debut on home soil for the Frenchman and that's probably the performance of the week. Only one other player has a 100% record in the Seve Trophy - Seve Ballesteros himself who won two out of two in 2002.

13:26

That's the 14th point up for Europe as Miguel Angel Jimenez completes a 6&4 win over David Lynn. Another half point needed from the last two matches to win for Europe.

13:23

Matteo Manassero has just got another blue point with a 3 and 2 win over Stephen Gallacher thanks to a birdie on the 16th and takes Europe ever closer as they lead 13-12. Only three matches on the course but with Jimenez five up that looks like one point in the bag. Could come down to Molinari to get the winning point just as he did at Medinah last September.

13:19

Still close but Europe certainly in the driving seat as they chase the 14 1/2 needed. Another 2 1/2 points required by both teams but Europe up in three and GB&I need to turn them around if they are to retain the Seve Trophy.

13:11
Nicolas Colsaerts talking to the media after his narrow win over Paul Casey on the 18th. With Bourdy winning 4&3 and Warren running in 4&3 winner scores tied at 12-12
13:02
Half in the top match and both say fair result on close game. But first point went to Tommy Fleetwood with 3&2 win over Joost Luiten.
12:38
Europe need five points to win for first time since 2000 and leaderboards on the course showing Europe up in five. Going to be an exciting finish.
12:31
Wonderful match play here on 15. Colsaerts up against it after pulling his tee shot and forced to chip out sideways from behind a tree, but the dude played a great approach to seven feet. Casey found sand with second to the par five but great up and down. Calm as you like, Colsaerts makes his putt for the half to stay one up. Terrific stuff.
12:09
Good following for Casey and Colsaerts out on the 12th where both players have 20 foot putts for birdie. But hole halved in four.
12:02
A lot is going to hinge on these top matches and captain Olazabal keeping a close eye on matches 1 and 2. Gonzo has just got it back to all square in the top match with Donaldson.
11:43

Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaon - Seve Trophy by Golf Day 4

Video

11:40

Too close to call this contest as GB&I up in three, down in five so Europeans have the slight edge but changing all the time here.

11:15

Check out this eagle from Colsaerts on the seventh. Nice.

Colsaerts creativity - Seve Trophy by Golf Day 4

Video

10:56

Now Jamie Donaldson has dunked a little chip in as well for a par on the ninth, but it was nt good enough as Gonzo calmly strokes home his birdie putt from 12 feet and claws a hole back. Europe one down through the turn in the top match.

10:55

Lovely chip in for eagle three on the seventh from Nicolas Colsaerts and he is two up again.

10:52

Reaction still coming in from Simon Khan's withdrawal as we hear from Khan himself, Thomas Bjorn, who gallantly stepped aside to let the youngsters play in a classy step, and Contintenal European Cpatain Jose Maria Olazabal. Read more here.

Simon Khan out of Seve Trophy through injury

Great Britain & Ireland’s Simon Khan has been forced out of the Seve Trophy by Golf with a back injury and will take no further part in the contest, with Thomas Björn stepping aside for the Continental Europe team.

10:48

It was all blue a moment ago but how quickly things change. In the top match Jamie Donaldson got up and down from sand for a winning birdie to put GB&I one up. Tommy Fleetwood has levelled his match with Joost Luiten after the Dutchman bogeyed the fifth and Thorbjorn Olesen, who had gone ahead with a birdie on the second, gave it right back with a double bogey on the third.

10:31

Ballesteros charity legacy recognised

In a week where the legacy of the late Seve Ballesteros was celebrated on the course, it was appropriate that the Spanish legend’s Foundation benefitted outside the ropes too, thanks to two sizable charitable donations.

10:27

Gregory Bourdy, like Luiten after that 100% record, has started well with a 12 foot birdie putt on the second giving him an early advantage over Scott Jamieson in match five.

10:14

Six foot birdie on the third has put Joost Luiten ahead in match three for the first time. He has been a star this week and is bidding, with Gregory Havret, to become the first player to win 5 out ot 5.

09:59

Three putts by Gonzo on the fourth and he is behind again in the top match. So much depends on these early battles to set the tone for the day as it is all about momentum.

09:57

Nicolas Colsaerts has come flying out of the traps with two opening birdies to quickly go two up on Paul Casey. He holed from four feet on the first and 18 feet on the second despite a wild tee shot which put him out in the wilderness. Great recovery to set up the winning birdie.

09:45

Some early movement in the first couple of matches. Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano made a mess of the opening hole with a double bogey after missing the fairway on the right, his second shot missed the green also on the right and his third, a chip, flew across the green and over the other side. He almost chipped in for a four but missed the bogey putt and Jamie Donaldson immediately one up. But Gonzo hot straight back by knocking it close on the second for a winning birdie.

09:31

GB&I captain Sam Torrance said: "Simon can’t play with an injury, he can’t commit to the shot and he is broken-hearted he has had to pull out. Their envelope had Thomas Björn in so he pulls out and Chris Wood, who would have played Björn, now plays Molinari in the last match. It is very tough to take. It is really tough for him as he really wanted to play but if you are injured there is nothing you can do.

"David Lynn is not well at all but he is not injured and you can commit when you are sick."

Simon Khan is forced out with his back injury so Thomas Bjorn, whose name was in the envelope for Continental Europe, also sits out and both teams get a half point each. Chris Wood, who was down to play Bjorn now moves down the order to play Francesco Molinari in the bottom match.

08:53
What do you call a collection of referees? Here they all are ahead of the final day singles.
08:50
We are waiting to hear about the fitness of Simon Khan after he sat out both sessions with a back injury yesterday. He is last out in match 10 but if unfit needs to pull out before first match tees off or he has to play. If that happens and he then finds he can't play, match forfeited. If he pulls out before first match then a European name in an envelope also sits out and it's a half point each.
08:39
Thorbjorn Olesen and Tommy Fleetwood getting their eye in on the putting green. Europe wearing blue shirts and yellow sweaters today and GB&I in red, white and blue.
08:05
  • Should either or both Gregory Bourdy or Joost Luiten win their singles match, they would become the first player or players to win all five matches in the same Seve Trophy encounter.
  • Should either or both Bourdy or Luiten win  their singles match they would follow Seve Ballesteros (2 points from 2 matches in 2002) as the only player or players to have a 100% record in a single Seve Trophy match.
  • Should both Bourdy and Luiten halve their singles match they would join Fredrik Jacobson (2003), Bradley Dredge (2007) and Chris Wood (2009) as the players to score the most points in the same Seve Trophy match with 4½.
  • In winning all four of their matches playing together, Bourdy and Luiten became the first pairing in Seve Trophy history to win four matches before the singles in the same Seve Trophy match
07:35

Weather forecast: As of 9 AM, the area is blanketed with fog and cool conditions. The fog will begin to dissipate as we head into the late morning hours. Once low clouds move out we will see a transition to partly cloudy skies. Wind speeds today will be rather weak with NNW wind at 3-6 MPH - for full forecast click here

07:24

Good morning from the final day of the Seve Trophy by Golf . We have ten singles to look forward to today and with the match level at 9-9, both team needs 5 1/2 points for victory. The match cannot be tied so if it finishes 14-14 then there will be a sudden-death play-off of foursomes on the ninth hole woth two players nominated by the captains at the end of play. There has never been a tie in the Seve Trophy but there is very little to seperate these two teams this year so who knows.
