BMW Tournament Director Marco Kaussler’s on-going respect and hospitality for The European Tour caddies was recognised on the eve of the BMW Masters presented by SRE Group when he was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the European Tour Caddies’ Association.
Kaussler, who has been at the helm of BMW’s golfing operations for many years now, was presented the award by committee member Dennis Blasdale on Thursday at Lake Malaren Golf Club in Shanghai in front of an audience of assembled caddies and European Tour Tournament Director Mikael Eriksson.
The welcome and friendliness of BMW in their treatment of the caddies, and the first-class catering facilities offered at BMW-promoted events, is something the European Tour ‘loopers’ clearly appreciate.
“It is a great honour, I have to say,” said Kaussler. “We at BMW have been involved in golf tournaments for 25 years. This is a family which travels around the world and we spend a lot of time with a lot of these people at several different tournaments.
“Personally, we just want to take good care of each other and this is a nice reward for that. The caddies are a big, important part of the family working in this industry so we are happy to look after them.”
Blasdale added: “We awarded Marco this honour because the benefits they have provided for the caddies to enjoy over the years – supplied through Marco and his BMW team – have been absolutely terrific.
“Caddies, from time to time, get pushed to the back of the queue on a lot of things but BMW do not allow this to happen. They bring them forward and really look after them and we are so grateful that they do.”
