Barry Lane and Paul Wesselingh produced strong performances in the Japan Senior Open Golf Championship.

Wesselingh, who is hoping to win the 2013 European Senior Tour Order of Merit next month, finished tied third, four shots behind winner Kiyoshi Murota, while Lane was tied fifth.

Both players were in touch with the lead heading into the final round but Wesselingh shot 71 to finish on five under par and Lane was another stroke back after a 75.

Wesselingh will continue his Far Eastern challenge in the Fubon Senior Open on the European Senior Tour, which takes place at Miramar Golf and Country Club from November 15-17.
