Rory McIlroy saw Henrik Stenson claim his DP World Tour Championship and Race to Dubai crown, and proclaimed the Swede was “too good for everyone”.

McIlroy completed his own double at Jumeirah Golf Estates 12 months ago, but this year it was the turn of 37 year old Stenson.

A closing 64 gave the Swede an Earth Course record winning score of 25 under par, six shots better than his nearest challenger Ian Poulter.

McIlroy, who finished with a 67 for a share of fifth place, said: “Henrik is playing too good for everyone it looks like right now.

“He's done really well. He's played all these four events in the Final Series and he's really wanted to get the job done, and he's been pushed all the way; Rose and Poulter and G Mac and even Victor out there, they have pushed him all the way. He's responded in unbelievable fashion so he definitely deserves this.”

Another former European and World Number One, Lee Westwood, described Stenson’s performance over the last six months as “incredible”.

“He's been there or thereabouts every week, and in the biggest tournaments,” said the Englishman. “That's how golf is when you get on a run.”

Justin Rose began the week as Stenson’s nearest challenger, before eventually finishing third in the standings.

“He came in as Number One and to win the golf tournament,” said the US Open Champion.

“It's probably not all he had to do, but it's an emphatic way for him to finish the season and exactly like he did in the FedEx Cup, and it's been a very impressive year.

“It was going to take a great performance to get past Henrik. He's done well to hold off all challengers this week.”

Luke Donald, the 2011 Race to Dubai champion, was also full of praise for Stenson.

“Obviously very, very impressive,” said the former World Number One. “I don't think there's been a better player in golf the last six months, and Henrik looks in total control. He's missed one green the first three days. He's making golf look easy, and believe me, it's not that easy. Hats off to him and he deserves everything he's getting.”
