It’s the last European Tour Weekly of 2013 and the final event of the calendar year comes from The Nelson Mandela Championship presented by ISPS Handa, hosted by Mount Edgecombe Country Club in Durban. As always ETW will be getting all the latest news and views from the range on the eve of the event.
Teeing up in Durban is Andreas Hartø, who was ETW’s ‘One to Watch’ in 2013. Hartø enjoyed a promising start to his year which included a 7th placed finish at the Volvo China Open, but struggled later on and finished the season in 119th place on The Race to Dubai to narrowly miss out on retaining his card. But he immediately reclaimed his playing privileges for 2014 by taking the 18th card at Q School in which he bounced back from a four-putt triple bogey to finish eagle-birdie.
European Tour Weekly will bring you two reviews this week. First up we look back at all the action from the Hong Kong Open in Fanling. In our second review it’s a return trip to South Africa and all the highlights from the Nedbank Golf Challenge held at the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City.
Whilst in Honk Kong ETW met up with Welshman Stuart Manley who has experienced an up and down last few weeks of his 2013 campaign. Manley narrowly missed out on automatic promotion to The European Tour with a 19th place finish in the Challenge Tour Rankings. He then claimed the tenth card at the Qualifying School Final Stage in Girona before travelling to Australia to represent his country in the ISPS Handa World Cup of Golf. In the third round he compiled one of the most bizarre level par 72s ever recorded when he started with two birdies at Royal Melbourne, had a hole-in-one on the third before carding an 11 on the very next hole en route to finishing tied eighth.
Together with all of the latest news and statistics this completes another edition of European Tour Weekly.
