After an enthralling opening day in the UAE, europeantour.com took a numerical, and sometimes sideways, look at the key numbers from the first round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.

67 – The low round of the day, shot by 3 players (Matthew Baldwin, Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Romain Wattel)

0 – Frenchman Wattel was blemish-free in his opening 5 under par round

32 – The low 9 of the day set on the back by Cabrera-Bello

4 – Shots 2014 European Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley was under par

2 – Shots under par that 4 of the 2012 Medinah heroes were on Thursday (Luke Donald, Peter Hanson, Martin Kaymer, Rory McIlroy)

3 – Inches short Paul Casey was from a hole in 1 on the 15th- it would have been the 10th ace in the tournament’s history and Casey’s 2nd (his other came in 2011 at the 12th)
