The inaugural EurAsia Cup represents a significant sponsorship achievement for DRB-HICOM as the golfing world prepares for an intercontinental battle between Asia and Europe at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club starting on Thursday.
With the EurAsia Cup being regarded as the ideal platform to propel DRB-HICOM’s profile onto the international stage, Datuk Mohamed Razeek Md Hussain, Chief Operating Officer, DRB-HICOM, is delighted that the group’s vision to support the match has now become a reality.
“The discussion for the EurAsia Cup started a couple of years ago when we wanted to find a suitable date on the Asian Tour and European Tour schedule that can feature a match between Asia against Europe," said Razeek."We were working hard on it and we finally got the prime minister to endorse it.
“It is a great opportunity for us to have two continents pit their skills against each other. DRB-HICOM will go down in history as the first to host the EurAsia Cup at Glenmarie and that’s an incredible premium to have.”
The EurAsia Cup is DRB-HICOM first foray into professional golf sponsorship and Razeek believes its involvement with the marquee event will steer the company towards a sponsorship path that will become the envy of many.
“When you have the opportunity to go into more than 600 million viewers worldwide, it’s an incredible opportunity to show off what we have and they include our automotive, real estate and financial services within our group,” said Razeek.
