SUNDAY JULY 13, 2014 – ABERDEEN ASSET MANAGEMENT SCOTTISH OPEN

• His seventh European Tour International Schedule victory in his 258th European Tour event.

• Could move to third in the Official World Golf Ranking, from sixth.

• Moves to €1,153,622 in The Race to Dubai.

• The  fifth different European Tour season he has won more than €1 million in a single season and third in succession. The five years are: 2002, 2007, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

• His third consecutive European Tour season with a victory, the first time he has achieved this feat. Won the 2012 WGC – Cadillac Championship, 2013 US Open Championship and 2014 Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.

• This victory comes in his eighth appearance in the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.

• This victory beats his previous best finish in the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open of fifth in 2002.

• The sixth different country he has won a European Tour in. They are: South Africa, England, Australia, Spain, USA and now Scotland. 

• Scotland is now the eighth different country overall he has won a professional event in. The other two are Japan and Turkey.

• The first English winner of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open since Luke Donald in 2011.

• Joins Neil Coles (1972), Barry Lane (1988), Carl Mason (1994), Lee Westwood (1998) and Luke Donald (2011), as English winners of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.

• The 11th player this season to win after leading or sharing the lead going into the final round.

OTHER FACTS

• The third of his seven European Tour events where he has led or shared the lead going into the final round. They are: 2007 MasterCard Masters, 2007 Volvo Masters and 2014 Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.

• Becomes the 29th different winner of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.

• Becomes the eighth different Major Champion to win the Aberdeen Asset Management. He follows: Ian Woosnam, Tom Lehman, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Graeme McDowell, Martin Kaymer and Phil Mickelson.

• Becomes the 287th English victory in European Tour history.

• Becomes the fourth English victory this season. They are: Ross Fisher (Tshwane Open), Lee Westwood (Maybank Malaysian Open), Daniel Brooks (Madeira Islands Open – Portugal – BPI) and Justin Rose (Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open).

• Moves over €15 million in European Tour Official Career Earnings.

• Moves to 1,788,164 points in The European Ryder Cup Points Table.

• Moves to 255.73 points in The Ryder Cup World Points List.

• Gains a place in the 2014 WGC – HSBC Champions and 2015 Volvo Golf Champions. (Already exempt for the 2014 WGC – Bridgestone Invitational).

• Gains his 15th victory worldwide as a professional.

• Becomes the 14th European Tour win of the 2014 season by a former Challenge Tour player. They are: Morten Ørum Madsen (South African Open Championship hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni), Thomas Björn (Nedbank Golf Challenge), Louis Oosthuizen (Volvo Golf Champions), Pablo Larrazábal (Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship), Stephen Gallacher (Omega Dubai Desert Classic), Ross Fisher (Tshwane Open), Marco Crespi (NH Collection Open), Alexander Levy (Volvo China Open), Felipe Aguilar (The Championship at Laguna National),  Daniel Brooks (Madeira Islands Open – Portugal – BPI), Mikael Lundberg (Lyoness Open powered by Greenfinity), Martin Kaymer (US Open Championship), Fabrizio Zanotti (BMW International Open) and Justin Rose (Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open)

• Becomes the 343rd European Tour victory by a former Challenge Tour player.
