By Jamie Kennedy in St Andrews

Well, that's us just about finished now as the curtian comes down on The 144th Open Championship. Thanks for joining us on the blog for the last five days. Next up we head for Switzerland on the European Tour and Sunngindale for the Senior Open but until then, congratulations to the Champion Golfer of the Year - Zach Johnson.

Johnson holds his nerve to land Claret Jug

Zach Johnson overcame Louis Oosthuizen and Marc Leishman in a play-off to win a second Major at The Open Championship.

Louis Oosthuizen: "I'll take a lot out of this week. I was really motivated to win this championship this week. I love this place. I've said it a thousand times. I can't wait for it to come back here again."

Latest World Ranking, and Zach Johnson is up to World Number 12 with his victory at the 144th Open at St. Andrews. He's the ninth American to win The Open at St Andrews.

19:21

Zach Johnson had a gap of eight years and 103 days between Major victories, a long wait from winning his Green Jacket to winning the Claret Jug, but sure he would agree it was well worth the wait.

Here are some more notable milestones:

With this win - Zach Johnson

Zach Johnson becomes only the 13th player to win the Masters Tournament and Open Championship with his victory at St Andrews.

19:11

Agonisingly close for Louis Oosthuizen in his bid to win The Open once again at St Andrews but not to be for the South African, with putts just slipping by on the 17th and 18th holes in the play-off.

How does is sound to be Open Champion? "Sounds beautiful, sounds extremely surreal. I feel blessed the be the champion, honoured to be part of this history. To have my name of this trophy with the names that have come before me, is humbling and surreal" - Zach Johnson

18:58

Johnson looks stunned as as Oosthuizen's birdie putt lips out. That's a second Major for the American, eight years after he won the Masters. And now the tears of joy have arrived - who wouldn't have a little sob at having a Green Jacket and Claret Jug in their collection? Stick around for all the reaction from a remarkable final day.
