Peter Uihlein arrives at the Hero Indian Open on the back of three top ten finishes and is hoping to turn that momentum into a long-awaited second victory on The European Tour.
The American burst onto the scene in the 2013 season, winning the Madeira Islands Open – Portugal – BPI and securing seven other top tens to finish 14th in The Race to Dubai and win the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award.
Just six top tens followed in the next two seasons but Uihlein has found a rich vein in form at the start of the current campaign.
The 26 year old missed two cuts on the Desert Swing and was then forced to withdraw from the Omega Dubai Desert Classic due to a wrist injury but has been in brilliant form ever since, securing a top ten and two top fives in his last three events.
Those good performances have come off the back of fast starts, with opening rounds of 65, 65 and 64, and Uihlein wants to continue riding his wave of good form at Delhi Golf Club.
It is always good when you have three top tens. The confidence is there and I hope to continue riding the momentum, hopefully I have another good week - Peter Uihlein
"Mentally I feel better. I don't let emotions dictate the decisions I don't want to make. That cures a lot of problems and I've been holing a lot of 15- and 20-footers so those two aspects have really helped me."
Uihlein did not play in last year's event, the first time it had been co-sanctioned by The European Tour, and he is looking forward to the test posed by the New Delhi layout.
"I'm excited to be here and I'm looking forward to the challenge," he said. "It is my fourth time in India but my first time playing on this course. I enjoy coming to India, the people are fantastic and I look forward to seeing how challenging the course will be.
"It is narrow, that's the consensus here. It is a bit claustrophobic, there aren't many places you can miss on the course and get away with it. You can attack the greens and get some decent pars so it will be a good test this week.
"I think it is a great field this week. You have the defending champion Anirban (Lahiri) and he is a world-class player. Padraig (Harrington) is also here. You have other guys like (Tommy) Fleetwood so the field is balanced and very competitive. It will be an exciting week for sure."
