With the European Tour back at Himmerland Spa & Golf Resort for the Made in Denmark for the fourth consecutive year, we pick out the key tee times to look out for during rounds one and two at one of the most popular events on the calendar…
Defending champion Thomas Pieters is back at the scene of his spectacular win last year, where the Belgian helped seal a Ryder Cup wildcard pick with a sensational winning final round of 65, for a 17 under par total, and he’ll have Thorbjørn Olesen and Renato Paratore for company over the first two days.
The big-hitting Belgian, who is enjoying a good 2017 season with the 25 year old currently ranked at 11th in the Race to Dubai Presented by Rolex rankings, and Dane Olesen, who has made 15 of the last 16 cuts, are sure to draw a big crowd for their 13:20 tee time.
More large galleries will be out in force to see Danish favourite Thomas Bjørn get his 500th European Tour event underway at 08:20 local time, and what better location for that to take place than at the venue where the 15 time European Tour winner won his first professional event, at the Himmerland Open back in 1995.
The most successful Danish golfer of all time will have fellow Ryder Cupper Martin Kaymer and 2014 winner Marc Warren for company over the first two rounds, with Germany’s Kaymer recovering from a shoulder injury to make his first appearance in over a month on the European Tour, at a venue where he impressed last year, thanks to four under par rounds and a tied sixth place finish.
Meanwhile, another of the Danes, Søren Kjeldsen, will be teeing it up alongside charismatic Frenchman Victor Dubuisson and Sweden’s Rikard Karlberg for the first two days, with that trio off at 08:10 from the first tee on Thursday morning.
