Thorbjørn Olesen is hoping to carry the impressive form he showed in the final round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational into next week's US PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club.
The Dane produced his joint-lowest WGC round on a tough scoring day at Firestone Country Club, carding seven birdies and a single bogey to sign for a closing 64 and climb into a tie for third place.
Olesen, who posted rounds of 71, 67 and 68 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday respectively, was pleased to see an improvement each day in Ohio and is keen to keep that momentum going at the final Major Championship of the year next week.
"This week it's been better and better every day," he said. "I struggled on the first day and it just slowly got better and better.
"Today I felt really comfortable on the greens and approach shots. It's nice going into next week, hopefully I can keep that going.
"We go every week to try and win, obviously, and that's the focus. It's the last Major next week and I would love to play well and have a good result."
Firestone was playing host to this tournament for the final time before it moves to Memphis next year and Olesen was pleased to put in a strong performance on a course he rates highly.
He added: "I love this course. It's a tough golf course. I haven't been driving it very well this week but today was a lot better.
"But it's just a great golf course. The greens are some of the purest we play on tour. You just need to be on top of your game.
"It was just nice to have a good finish here."
Olesen was joined on ten under by World Number One Dustin Johnson, who also posted a 64 on day four, with his only bogey coming at the last.
Johnson charged up the leaderboard after reaching the turn in 29, courtesy of six birdies on his front nine - including four in a row from the first.
And after notching another at the tenth, he safely parred his next seven holes before dropping a shot at the 18th to fall back to ten under.
Johnson was pleased with his performance on Sunday.
He said: "The first ten holes were pretty good today. Anytime you can birdie seven out of the first ten, you know you're doing something pretty well.
"I just gave myself a lot of chances, and close chances, too.
"So I hit it really well and even gave myself a lot of chances on the back nine."
