Lorenzo Gagli and Guido Migliozzi are looking forward to teaming up with Stefania Avanzo and Diana Luna to try to win a European Golf Team Championships medal for Italy when the Mixed Team event gets under way on Saturday.

The players will swap fourball match play for foursomes stroke play on day four, with gold, silver and bronze medals on offer for the top three teams.

After winning their first match of the week against Belgium in the Men's Team event on Friday, Italy pair Gagli and Migliozzi turned their attention to tomorrow's Mixed Team competition.

Gagli said: "Tomorrow should be fun playing alongside the women. It's a different challenge tomorrow and we've enjoyed each day so far, so hopefully tomorrow will be good.

"It's an honour to represent our country and each time we play for Italy we try our best.

"Stroke play is completely different to match play. It's nice to play match play but I prefer the stroke play event."

Migliozzi added: "It's our country so it means everything to us to represent Italy. It is very important to play for our country.

"It's wonderful to play at Gleneagles. The course is very nice, the weather has been good but today it was normal Scottish weather. I've really enjoyed playing on this course."
