Graeme McDowell's 100 yard par save voted September Shot of the Month
After one of the closest Shot of the Month competitions in European Tour history, My European Tour fans have spoken and voted Graeme McDowell's shot at the Porsche European Open as September's Shot of the Month.
Gmac's 90 yard par save on the 13th hole of the second round in Germany beat out competition from Lee Slattery, Wade Ormsby, Jens Fahrbring and Miguel Angel Jimenez to receive just over a quarter of all votes in the competition.
“It’s great to win Shot of the Month." McDowell told us. "The number of good shots we see on The European Tour these days is amazing so to have my shot chosen by My European Tour fans is pretty cool – especially when you’re up against Miguel!"
Graeme McDowell just saved par... from 100 yards!Posted by European Tour on Friday, September 25, 2015
“It was definitely one of the craziest pars I have ever made."
"Obviously you’d hope to hole out from 90 yards for an eagle, or at least a birdie, but having missed my tee shot in some nasty rough it ended up being a very memorable par. Me and Ken discussed the shot and we both agreed to take on the pin. It was at the back of the green and we knew we had a to try and hit it close."
"Not sure either of us thought it would go in, which probably explains our reaction when it did.”
McDowell is the only person that wins thanks to the competition. Daniel Gustavsson of Sweden voted for the winning shot and was randomly selected to receive a £500 gift card to The European Tour shop.
