Irishman's miracle escape from the trees voted August Shot of the Month by fans.
127 yards. It doesn't sound like a lot to a Tour pro. However, when you're in the trees, on the 72nd hole, on the verge of the biggest title of your career, it's a different matter.
That is what faced Shane Lowry on the final hole of the 2015 WGC Bridgestone Invitational. What followed was one of the shots of the year and officially the Shot of the Month for August.
"It was actually a pretty horrific lie." Lowry told us. "It was sitting down in a hole. It was almost like someone had stood on it, but it was where the crowd was walking. And I just said to Dermot, I'll try and hit sand wedge and just get it down to the front of the green. I pulled it a bit too low and went into the tree."
"The rest is history."
Lowry's escape earned more than 60 per cent of the votes from My European Tour fans, the largest portion of any Shot of the Month winner in 2015. David Howell's monster putt at the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play came was the second most popular shot with 15 per cent of the vote.
By correcting voting Lowry's shot as Shot of the Month, Justin Noonan from Ireland won himself a £500 gift card for The European Tour shop. Enjoy Justin!
