Genworth Financial are on track to secure a strong finish to their 2009 Putts for Charity program at the Portugal Masters after a hugely successful ‘Putts for Charity Pro Challenge’.

The ‘Putts for Charity Pro Challenge’ took place on Thursday evening and featured top European Tour professionals who were given the opportunity to secure further donations for Genworth’s charity partner, SOS Children’s Villages.

Players that participated were Graeme McDowell, Lee Westwood, Thomas Levet, Miguel-Angel Jiménez, Jose-Filipe Lima, Francesco Molinari and Genworth brand ambassador, Ross Fisher who all represented the Tour Players Foundation. Each player randomly selected a ball marked with a sum of money ranging from €1,000 - €10,000. For each successful putt sunk the allocated amount was donated to SOS Children’s Villages by the Genworth Foundation, Genworth Financial’s charitable giving arm.

“We were delighted to donate an additional €40,000 from this year’s Pro Challenge and are on track to reach our goal of over €150,000 raised through the 2009 Putts for Charity program” said Martin Ring, Genworth’s European Brand & Events Director.

Heather Paul, SOS Children’s Villages Chief Executive, added: “SOS Children's Villages has enjoyed a great golfing season with Genworth Financial on The European Tour schedule. Genworth's innovative Putts for Charity activity has helped to fund our vital work with orphaned and vulnerable children across Europe, enabling more children to grow up within a family.”
