Swede Johan Edfors was closing in on leaders Simon Dyson and Marcel Siem as the first round of the KLM Open continued at Hilversum in The Netherlands.
While Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy were still struggling to make an impact, Edfors birdied the tenth and 12th to join England’s Robert Dinwiddie in third with four to play.
Half the field had to complete their first rounds following Thursday's delays, first for vandalism to four greens and then for flooding.
England's Dyson and German Siem led overnight on five under, both having the luxury of a long lie-in before they began their second rounds later in the day.
