Ross McGowan was clinging on to a share of the lead as the second round of the Castelló Masters began in Spain.
Leader by two overnight following his seven under par 64, the 29 year old Englishman bogeyed the second and third holes and needed a birdie on the long next to be in a share for top spot with compatriot Richard McEvoy.
They were joined by Alex Noren as the in-form Swede reeled off four birdies in an outward 32.
Northern Ireland's Michael Hoey, winner of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship title in Scotland three weeks ago, reached six under as well, but followed two birdies in his first three holes with four successive bogeys.
