Tournament Information - Dubai World Championship

Tournament Information:

The Dubai World Championship shall take place from Thursday 8th – Sunday 11th December 2011

The Championship will be a 72 hole stroke play event on the Earth course, with 18 holes being played every day (Thursday– Sunday).

The field will consist of the top 60 players in The Race to Dubai at the conclusion of the European Tour tournament played Thursday 1st –Sunday 4th December (The UBS Hong Kong Open). There are no invitations.  


Transportation:

There is free Public Parking onsite however we encourage you to take a taxi which will drop you off at the front entrance of the Championship. Taxis will be available from the Public Car Park for your return journey.

Buses will operate from the Championship to a number of popular locations around Dubai at regular intervals from 2pm- 8pm. Locations include, Bidi Bondi, Nasimi Beaches, Barasti, Wafi Mall, IBN Battura Metro, Green Community, Motor City and Arabian Ranches.

From Dubai

•    Follow Al Khail Road and then Emirates Road towards Abu Dhabi/Jebel Ali and on to Green Community Roundabout.
•    Proceed all the way round the roundabout and back onto the Emirates Road (Direction Dubai)
•    Parking Label Holders – should follow signs to the correct car park.
•    Public – Follow signs to Dubai World Championship and drive in the right hand lane taking the first exit past IMPZ at the Old al Khail roundabout. After taking the turn please follow signs to the Public Car Park.

From Jebel Ali / Abu Dhabi
•    To Dubai from Abu Dhabi, take exit 22 / interchange 7 from Sheikh Zayed Road.
•    After approximately 10km, you will reach the large Green Community roundabout. Turn onto the flyover, joining Emirates Road. Follow signs to Dubai World Championship.
•    Parking Label Holders – should follow signs to the correct car park.
•    Public – Follow signs to Dubai World Championship and drive in the right hand lane taking the first exit past IMPZ at the Old al Khail roundabout. After taking the turn please follow signs to the Public Car Park.
   

On Course Refreshments & Catering

There are plenty of prime viewing spots located around the course. Each hole boasts its own spectacular views and a number of spectator areas have been designed to put you right in the heart of the action.

On course there are grandstands located by the 9th, 17th and 18th Green ensuring spectators will see some of the Tournament’s key moments.

Located out on course are Picnic Corners where you can chill out in comfort with great food and beverages and views over several holes.

The par 3 6th hole has a number of bean bags and couches for you to relax on whilst watching the professionals play through. The action on the back nine can be caught by the 13th green where more bean bags and couches can be found.
A unique spectator area will again be the ‘Left Bank’ with its prime position on the decked platform overlooking the par 3, 17th hole. Left Bank offers a popular meeting place combining style with a relaxed atmosphere whilst having a drink.
Final hole action can be caught from another stunning location, Après. Situated on a decked platform overlooking the 18th green Après is a superb location with fantastic views over the green.


Championship Village

Food and Beverage

The Championship Village will be a hive of excitement for spectators visiting the Championship. You can keep up to date with all of the golfing action taking place out on course via the Big Screen whilst enjoying a drink at the Amstel Light Sports Bar or Jindalee Wine Bar. A variety of food on offer with pizzas and hot pies or fish and chips.

The Costa Bar enables spectators to enjoy a coffee or the option to take a Grab’n’Go mug on the course with you.
The Jack Daniels Experience Lawn has a variety of food on offer from the grill to complement your JD cocktails.

Spectators can still enjoy the Championship Village after play has finished on course with live music each evening from Suburban Voodoo and Maplejacks.

Village Entertainment

Children attending the Championship can enjoy the Kids’ Zone once again with activities including face painting and a bouncy castle for them to enjoy throughout the day. Children keen to play golf can try the Short Game area adding fun to the learning and playing experience.

This year the Emirates Golf Federation is supporting golf lessons for the more advanced player visiting the Championship. 10 minute lessons are on offer by resident professionals who will be located at the back of the range next to the village entrance.

After your lesson why not put your new skills to the test in the Golf Simulator? For the more advanced player the state of the art ‘Full Swing’ simulator offers the opportunity to play selected holes from around the world.

Spectators have the chance to watch the top players practicing on the range and also be entertained by trick shot artist David Edwards with shows on the range twice a day. Confirmed times for each show will be announced each day and will be published on the website closer to the Championship.

Fitness First will be back in the Championship Village with trained fitness instructors on hand to give advice on how to burn off a few extra calories.


Hospitality


Adjacent to the 18th green is the premium location for watching 60 of the world’s top golfers at close range as they tackle the last hole of Earth and vie for victory in The Dubai World Championship. Offering gourmet refreshments amidst indulgent surroundings in a climate controlled environment, the Hospitality Pavilion is the ideal place to network and entertain VIP guests while enjoying the best in world-class sporting action.

Please note that all prices are per person per day. The hospitality facility operates a free seating policy - it is not possible to reserve tables.

Disabled Facilities

- Provision has been made for disabled facilities at the Championship.
- There is preferential parking in both Car Parks 1A and 2A.
- There is a designated viewing area for disabled spectators behind the 18th Green.
- Toilet facilities are located onsite in the Tented Village and there is ramp access to all public facilities and Hospitality Structures.  


Prohibited Items

Mobile phones are allowed at the Championship, however they are to be kept on silent or switched off at all times.
Cameras are only permitted on Practice Days Tuesday and Wednesday. Cameras are prohibited on match days Thursday-Sunday.
