Seung-yul Noh and Anthony Wall were among those to make early progress on day three of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic as leaders Rory McIlroy and Thomas Björn prepared to get their penultimate rounds underway.
South Korean Noh, 20, birdied the second and third holes to move to seven under overall, while Englishman Wall was two shots further back, having picked up shots on the sixth, 10th, 11th and 12th holes today.
Although Noh and Wall had each made significant moves up the leaderboard, they remained some way adrift of McIlroy - the winner of this tournament in 2009 - and Björn, who were set to resume on 13 under at the Emirates course.
Rafael Cabrera-Bello was a shot behind the leaders, while Martin Kaymer, Scott Jamieson and Grégory Bourdy all shared third on 11 under.
