When Bubba Watson and Louis Oosthuizen began their sudden-death playoff at the Masters, the winner of the Green Jacket was still in question. The winning golf ball however was not, as both players teed up a Titleist Pro V1x. Success at Augusta National requires confidence, creativity, focus and unwavering trust in your golf ball. Watson topped Oosthuizen with a world-class par on the second extra hole – the 10th at Augusta National – securing his first Major championship.

Oosthuizen created drama when he seized the early final round lead following a miraculous albatross on the par-5 2nd hole; the first albatross on that hole in Masters history. On the back-9, Watson posted four consecutive birdies on holes 13 through 16 to join Oosthuizen at the top of the leaderboard, before making a world class par on the second extra hole to realise his dream of winning the Masters. The Major win marks the fourth career PGA Tour victory for Watson; he also won the Travelers Championship in 2010 and the Farmers Insurance Open and Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2011.

Four players tied for 3rd at 8-under 280, including Pro V1x loyalist Lee Westwood, who posted a final round 4-under 68. The performance marks the 10th top-5 finish in Major championships for Westwood. His T-3 marks his second-best result at the Masters, behind only his 2nd place finish in 2010. Ian Poulter (Pro V1x) closed with a 3-under 69 to finish alone in 7th at 5-under 283. He was followed a further shot back by three players, including Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott (Pro V1) and Pro V1x loyalist Padraig Harrington. As well as being the choice of the champion and majority of top finishers, the legendary Pro V1 franchise also topped the golf ball count with 53 players, compared to 11 for the nearest competitor. Titleist was the top choice of the field in the iron sets, wedge and putter categories.

With his first Major victory, Watson advances to No. 4 in the Official World Golf Ranking, a list that includes Titleist golf ball loyalists in positions 1 through 6: World No. 1 Luke Donald (Pro V1x), No. 2 Rory McIlroy (Pro V1x), No. 3 Lee Westwood (Pro V1x), No. 5 Hunter Mahan (Pro V1x) and No. 6 Steve Stricker (Pro V1x).

Elsewhere, on the Nationwide Tour, it was a Titleist golf ball 1-2-T3 at the Soboba Classic where Andres Gonzales (Pro V1x) completed a wire-to-wire victory, defeating Titleist golf ball loyalist Andrew Svoboba (Pro V1x) by two strokes. Titleist Brand Ambassadors Alistair Presnell (Pro V1x) and Michael Letzig (Pro V1x) tied for third to complete the all-Titleist golf ball top-3. On the Asian Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Scott Hend (Pro V1x) captured the weather-shortened ISPS Handa Singapore Classic for his second title on the Asian Tour. These further victories further enhance Titleist’s 2012 worldwide golf ball win count to 41, compared to 6 for the nearest competitor.

A first Major victory for Pro V1x loyalist Bubba Watson coming through an all-Titleist golf ball play-off, coupled with further victories for Titleist golf ball loyalists around the world, continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the performance excellence of Titleist for their success.
