European Tour Weekly travels to Spain this week for the 47th Volvo World Match Play Championship at Finca Cortesin Golf Club in Andalucia. The 24 man elite field includes 15 of the World’s top 60 players who will go head to head in the only match play event to be held in Europe this season, and as always we will report all the latest news from the range.
European Tour Weekly recently met up with Ian Poulter who will be defending his title at the Volvo Match Play Championship in Spain, his first appearance in Europe this season. Last year Poulter produced a succession of comeback wins on his way to the final where he defeated Luke Donald 2 and 1.

Whilst in Madeira ETW caught up with American Scott Pinckney. Having enjoyed a successful collegiate career at Arizona State University Pinckney secured his place on the 2012 Race to Dubai thanks to a stunning performance on the final day at the 2011 Qualifying School Final Stage. Having started the day in a tie for 66th place he fired a round of 65 to finish on eight under par to take the 24th card.
Last week The European Senior Tour season kicked off at the Mallorca Open Senior. Sam Torrance is hoping to win his fourth European Senior Tour Order of Merit title and ETW recently spoke to Sam at the 2012 Annodata Scottish Golf Awards. Torrance was presented with a lifetime achievement award, following in the footsteps of Paul Lawrie and Colin Montgomerie.
