FootJoy, the #1 Shoe & Glove in Golf, claimed a stunning double win weekend on both sides of the Atlantic. On the European Tour, Paul Lawrie gave Europe's Ryder Cup Team another boost by winning on home soil for the third time in his career, with an emphatic display in the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles, Scotland. Elsewhere at The Barclays 2012 FedExCup Playoffs at Bethpage State Park, FootJoy ambassador Nick Watney found his form to record an impressive victory on one of the toughest course setups of the year.

Entering the final day one ahead, the 43 year old Scot fired a closing round of 68 to beat fellow brand ambassador Brett Rumford by four with a 16 under par total of 272 in the all-round excellence of the FJ ICON and the extreme comfort and grip of the FJ StaSof glove. The win takes the Scotsman to his highest ever position on the Official World Golf Ranking at 30 and will send his confidence sky-high as he heads to Chicago next month for his first appearance in The Ryder Cup since 1999.

In addition to winning his first Playoffs event and the biggest career paycheck of $1.44 million, the athletic performance of the FJ SPORT gave Watney the stability to put in an incredible putting display. This victory sends Watney to top of the FedExCup and in pole position to claim golf's biggest prize, for $10 million. It looks increasingly likely that the American has put himself in the running for one of the US Ryder Cup Captain Davis Love III’s four captains picks for the 2012 team.

FootJoy also maintained a dominant share of the shoe and glove counts at Jonnie Walker. An impressive 62% of the field chose to stride the fairways of Gleneagles in FootJoy shoes, with the nearest competitor accounting for just 16% of the field. FootJoy also led the glove counts with 43% of the field trusting the superior grip and comfort of FJ’s flagship gloves, StaSof, SciFlex and Pure Touch.

“I am delighted for Paul and Nick, who both recorded impressive victories this weekend. Paul is having a superb year and is certainly back to his best, while Nick is back showing his real potential,” commented Russell Lawes, European Marketing Manager – FootJoy. “With the Ryder Cup on the horizon it is encouraging to see so many FJ brand ambassadors on both Team Europe and Team USA going head to head on the global scene.”

Whether it is the all-round excellence of the FJ ICON, the Xtreme Platform Stability of the all-new XPS-1, the reliability and consistent performance of DryJoys Tour or the sports performance of the FJ Sport™, FootJoy remains the overwhelming favourite for golfers of all abilities around the world.
