David Lynn made a topsy-turvy start in his bid to claim glory once again at the KLM Open.
Lynn, runner-up in the recent US PGA Championship and the winner of this event in 2004, birdied three of his first four holes this morning after starting on the ninth.
A run of three bogeys in four followed before an eagle at the par five 18th lifted the Englishman back to two under.
He was one behind a clutch of players tied for the lead at Hilversumsche GC.
They included Danny Willett, who tied for second in last week’s Omega European Masters, 1994 champion Miguel Angel Jiménez and Peter Hanson, a member of the European Team for this month’s Ryder Cup.
