Kim Chan leads the Qualifying School First Stage Section D at Ribagolfe in Portugal after a weather-affected second round.
The American carded a level par 72 to follow his seven under par 65 on day one, and leads by one from his compatriot Lanto Griffin, who signed for a four under par 68.
Heavy fog delayed the start of the second round, meaning four groups had to complete their second round on Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, at Frilford Heath in England, Northern Irishman Chris Devlin fired a stunning eight under par 64 to storm into the lead at seven under. He leads James Watts, who had a second round 70, by one shot.
At both venues, 29th place and ties will qualify for the Second Stage, which takes place across four courses in Spain from November 7-10, before the Final Stage at PGA Catalunya Resort from November 24-29.
