Our Genworth Tournament Summary shows how Ian Poulter came out on top at the 2012 WGC HSBC Champions tournament in Shenzhen. Alongside our Genworth Summery we present his Genworth tournament statistics and rankings.

• Louis Oosthuizen and Ernie Els both performed brilliantly from tee to green this week, finishing tied 3rd in the Genworth Greens in Regulation statistic (58 of 72 greens - 80.6%). Louis now leads the Genworth Greens in Regulation season statistic on 80.7% with Ernie and Rory McIlroy chasing close behind on 79.8% and 79.3% respectively.
• It should be noted that Ernie Els and Ian Poulter finished 2nd and 3rd in the Genworth Scrambles statistic which confirms the quality of their long games this week. If a player ranks well in both the Genworth Greens in Regulation and Scrambles statistics, it generally means the few times they did miss the green they tended to miss in good spots. This then made their subsequent scramble attempts a little easier. It's all knock-on effect.
• Those that question Lee Westwood's putting need to look at the statistics. This week he ranked a pretty average 14th position (by his standards in a small field event) in the Genworth Greens in Regulation statistic, but he ranked 1st in the Genworth Putts per GIR statistic and 12th in the Genworth Putts per Round statistic (obviously helped by a superb third round 61).
• Martin Kaymer's 9th place finish was distorted by his triple bogey 6 on the penultimate hole. Martin continues to show improvement each week. He finished 8th in the Genworth Greens in Regulation statistic as well as 2nd in the Genworth Putts per GIR statistic. He also made the most birdies of any player for the tournament (27 in total). We look for a win from Martin before the end of the year, perhaps even at the big one in Dubai.
• The two main Race to Dubai contenders behind Rory McIlroy being Peter Hanson and Justin Rose performed steadily this week, both finishing on -9. Peter was consistent across the board whereas Justin finished 2nd in the Genworth Greens in Regulation statistic behind his pal Ian Poulter (but figured less well on the greens).

Ian Poulter won the 2012 WGC HSBC Champions but did the Olazábal Course Par 5's shape the tournament as much as was anticipated through the week? Well the players that scored best on the Par 5's did indeed contend, but it was damage limitation on the Par 3's combined with great scoring on both the Par 4's and Par 5's that prevailed in the end.
