Titleist golf ball loyalist Ian Poulter (Pro V1x) closed with a final round 65 to rally from four strokes behind to take the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shenzen, China. This was the 14th win of Poulter’s professional career, and his second World Golf Championship title following his victory at the Accenture Match Play Championship in 2010. Poulter’s emphatic victory headlined another multiple win weekend for the #1 ball in golf, as he was joined in the winner’s circle by fellow Titleist golf ball loyalists Stacy Lewis, Tom Lehman and Doug McGuigan, who recorded victories on the LPGA, Champions, and South African Tours respectively.
Poulter put his trust in the feel and control of the Pro V1x to post a 21-under par, 267 total, at the WGC-HSBC Champions, finishing two shots clear of the field. Four players tied for second, including Titleist Brand Ambassadors Jason Dufner (Pro V1) and Scott Piercy (Pro V1x) who trusted the total performance of Titleist equipment throughout their bags. Poulter carded eight birdies in his final round seven-under par 65 to overtake third round co-leaders and Pro V1x loyalists Lee Westwood (Pro V1x) and Louis Oosthuizen (Pro V1x), who both shot level par final rounds of 72 en route to finishing tied-sixth.
There were further strong performances for Titleist Brand Ambassador’s Adam Scott (new Pro V1 prototype) and Bill Haas (Pro V1x), who finished eighth and tenth, as 7 of the top-10 finishers relied on the consistency and quality of Titleist golf balls for their success. As well as being the choice of the champion and the majority of top finishers in China, Titleist was also the most played golf ball with 46 players putting their trust in the #1 ball in golf, more than four times the nearest competitor with 10. Titleist also topped the counts for iron sets and wedges respectively.
Elsewhere, on the LPGA Tour, Pro V1x loyalist Stacy Lewis fired a final round 8-under par 64 to claim a one shot victory at the Mizuno Classic in Japan. The win marked the fourth win of the season for Lewis, as she edged out fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Bo-Mee Lee (Pro V1). On the Champions Tour, Pro V1 loyalist Tom Lehman captured the Charles Schwab Cup Championship by six shots. Lehman becomes the first player to win the season points title for two consecutive years, as he headed a 1-2-3 for Titleist golf ball loyalists at the season finale. On the South African Tour, Pro V1x loyalist Doug McGuigan earned his 6th career win in South Africa at the ISPS Handa Match Play Championship, posting a 1-up victory in the 18-hole final. These victories take Titleist’s 2012 worldwide golf ball win count to 170 across worldwide professional tours, compared to 21 for the nearest competitor.
A second World Golf Championship title for Titleist golf ball loyalist Ian Poulter at the WGC-HSBC Champions, coupled with further wins across worldwide professional tours, proves that the world’s best players continue to put their trust in the performance excellence of Titleist to deliver success.
