Titleist Brand Ambassador Matteo Manassero (Pro V1x) earned the third European Tour title of his young career and entered the record books after emerging victorious from an all-Titleist Pro V1x playoff at the Barclays Singapore Open. The 19-year old Italian posted a 13-under par, 271 total, to match the score of fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Louis Oosthuizen (Pro V1x) before holing a 12-foot eagle putt on the third extra hole to claim victory in dramatic fashion. Manassero becomes the first teenager to win three times on the European Tour and his victory, alongside further wins for Titleist golf ball loyalists on the LPGA Tour and South African Tour, further bolsters Titleist’s worldwide golf ball win count in 2012.
Manassero trusted the excellence of Titleist equipment from tee-to-green, including the Pro V1x golf ball, 913D2 driver, 913F fairway metal, 913H hybrid, AP2/MB irons, Vokey Design SM4 wedges, and Scotty Cameron Select GoLo putter. Manassero topped a leaderboard littered with Titleist golf ball loyalists, including Titleist Brand Ambassador and World Number 1, Rory McIlroy (Pro V1x), who finished third at the event, and with it, secured the 2012 Race to Dubai title. McIlroy trusted a full bag of Titleist equipment to become only the second player to win the money lists on both the European Tour and PGA Tour in the same year, emulating the achievement of fellow Pro V1x loyalist Luke Donald (Pro V1x) who achieved the feat in 2011. McIlroy finished in third place to complete a 1-2-3 of Titleist golf ball loyalists.
Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott also continued his rich vein of form, posting his second consecutive Top-10 finish after putting the new Titleist Pro V1x prototype golf ball into play. Scott finished in a tie for fifth place, as four of the players finishing in the top-5 and ties put their trust in the #1 ball in golf. Titleist was also the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the event with 89 players putting their trust in the superior performance of the legendary Pro V1 franchise, more than four times the nearest competitor with 21. Titleist equipment was also the top choice of the field for iron sets and wedges respectively.
Elsewhere, on the LPGA Tour, Pro V1 loyalist Cristie Kerr completed a one shot victory over two players, including fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Angela Stanford (Pro V1) at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. Kerr finished with a 16-under par, 272 total to earn her 15th career LPGA Tour title. On the South African Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Trevor Fisher Jnr (Pro V1x) fired a final round 71 en route to claiming his third victory of the season at the Nedbank Affinity Cup. As well as being the choice of the champion, each of the top six finishers relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success. These victories take Titleist’s 2012 worldwide golf ball win count to 173 across worldwide professional tours, compared to 23 for the nearest competitor.
