It’s the last European Tour Weekly of 2012 and the final event of the calendar year comes from the Alfred Dunhill Championship, hosted as ever by Leopard Creek CC, in Malelane. As always ETW will be getting all the latest news and views from the range on the eve of the event.
The 2012 season was certainly one to remember for South African golfers, and Justin Walters, freshly graduated from The Challenge Tour thanks in part to finishing fifth at the 2012 Apulia San Domenico Grand Final, is one of a new breed of players hoping to emulate the likes of Els, Schwartzel, Oosthuizen, and Grace by winning on The European Tour.
And we will find out how Justin fared in his first event of the new season when ETW shows the best of the action from the rain affected city of Durban, host to The Nelson Mandela Championship presented by ISPS Handa.
One of those setting the pace last year on The European Tour was Branden Grace. In his first year on Tour he triumphed no less than four times, but he wasn’t the only winner in the Grace camp – caddy Zack Rasego was named 2012 Caddy of the Year, and ETW catches up with them in South Africa to look back on a momentous 2012 season.
One who found 2012 tough going was our one to watch, Tommy Fleetwood. He only secured his playing rights by finishing in the top ten of his last event of the season, the SA Open Championship. Tommy takes time out from preparing for Christmas to look back on a nerve wracking twelve months.
The Senior Tour is in Mauritius this week for the season ending MCB Tour Championship, and ETW will bring the best of the action as well as looking back on a historical season.
Together with all of the latest news and statistics this completes another edition of European Tour Weekly.
