Golf fans hoping to see some of the game’s all-time greats in 2013 can take advantage of a special festive ticket offer to reserve their place at The Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex, from July 25-28.

Discounted advance tickets are on sale NOW for the 27th edition of this prestigious Championship, which visits Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Lancashire, England, for the first time.

Season tickets bought before Christmas can now be purchased for just £60 – a significant saving of £20 on the gate price, making it an ideal festive gift for family or friends.

One day tickets purchased before Christmas cost £20, a saving of £10 on the gate price, while practice day tickets are also available at the reduced price of £10. Under16s are admitted for free when accompanied by an adult and parking is also free.

Fred Couples, the 1992 Masters Champion and former World Number One, won the 2012 Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex at Turnberry, overturning Bernhard Langer’s one shot lead.   

Couples was one of 32 Major Champions in the field in Scotland and the number is expected to be bolstered in 2013 by Fijian Vijay Singh, whose 2000 Masters triumph was sandwiched between two US PGA Championship victories.

Royal Birkdale, which last hosted The Open Championship in 2008 when Padraig Harrington claimed his second consecutive Claret Jug, will become the 11th different course to host The Senior Open Championship. It will be only the second course in the north West of England to host the Championship, after Royal Lytham & St Annes between 1991 and 1995
