Jens Dantorp is hoping that he can take inspiration from Kristoffer Broberg as the Swede’s second year on the European Challenge Tour tees off at the season-opening Gujarat Kensville Challenge this week.

Dantorp, who won the Nordic Golf League in 2011 with a record earnings total, finished in 65th position in the 2012 Challenge Tour Rankings and enters this season with high hopes.

The 23 year old watched the rapid rise of Broberg at first hand last year as the Stockholm man claimed four victories in his rookie season on the Challenge Tour to make an immediate step up to The European Tour.

Dantorp was in awe of his friend and compatriot and believes there were many lessons learned that he will take into the 2013 Challenge Tour campaign as he attempts to follow in Broberg’s path.

“I am really looking forward to it this year,” said Dantorp. “It’s going to be nice to have a full year this year because it was difficult last year only just getting into tournaments and it was hard to give myself a good chance for a card.
“I am still pleased with last year. My game wasn’t so good but I'm pleased with my finish in the Rankings so that was nice.

“Hopefully I can do something like Kristoffer this year but I won’t count on it! He’s a good friend of mine and it was inspiring to see him last year.

“I shared a room with him for a couple of the tournaments I won so it was good to see. He’s just not afraid of anything, he just goes for it. He’s so confident.

“I learned a lot from him last year, he’s a hard worker and it paid off. He enjoys the game of golf too. You can see that in his eyes, he loves it.

“I need to work on being more like him in that sense. I just need to play my own game and not think about others and enjoy it more. It’s supposed to be fun.”
