FootJoy, the #1 Shoe and Glove in Golf, celebrated yet another momentous victory on the European Tour this weekend as brand ambassador, Kiradech Aphibarnrat held off a star-studded field to capture his maiden tour title at the Maybank Malaysian Open. With inclement weather playing a major part in proceedings, ultimately leading to a shortened 54-hole event, it was the 23 year-old Thai sensation that eventually prevailed over a number of other fellow FJ ambassadors. 

Starting the rain-shortened final round leading at 11 under-par with 16 holes remaining, Aphibarnrat certainly came out of the blocks firing when play commenced. A birdie at the long third hole was immediately followed with an impressive 15 foot eagle putt two holes later to move him clear of an FJ filled chasing pack, including Harrington, Dubuisson and Anders Hansen. Following a couple of shaky holes in the middle of his round, the big-hitting Thai got back on track with a stunning approach to three feet at the 14th to put him one ahead of the clubhouse leader. Play was then delayed again due to adverse weather conditions, but that didn’t affect Aphibarnrat as he made a clutch birdie at 16 and eventually strolled up the last in the unrivalled comfort of his FJ SPORT BOA golf shoes to claim an emotional victory. The winner’s cheque for €350,410 earns Aphibarnrat a coveted exemption on the European Tour until the end of the 2015 season and moves him into the Top 100 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
