FootJoy XPS-1 ()
FootJoy, the #1 Shoe and Glove in Golf, claimed victory on both sides of the Atlantic this past weekend as brand ambassador, D.A. Points captured his second PGA Tour title at the Shell Houston Open and the winner of the Trophée Hassan II lead home an FJ one-two-three on the European Tour. With torrential rain once again causing a halt to proceedings in Houston, it was to be Points who took control when play eventually resumed, claiming the victory and a much sought after spot in The Masters. Over in Africa it was yet another FJ packed leaderboard on the European Tour as the wire-to-wire winner strolled to the title in the unrivalled comfort and style of his FJ ICON golf shoes.
At Redstone GC it was FJ ambassador, D.A. Points, in his XPS-1 golf shoes and SciFlex glove who eventually prevailed on an intriguing final day that saw the lead change on numerous occasions. The 37 year-old from Illinois opened up with four birdies on the front nine to move atop proceedings and then it was a matter of hanging on over the closing holes. Following a rain delay that interrupted play for over an hour, Points calmly holed a 13-foot par putt at the 72nd hole to win the tournament and earn a richly deserved spot in next week’s Masters. The win follows up his memorable break-through victory at Pebble Beach alongside Bill Murray and moves him up to 19th in the FedEx Cup standings.
Over in Morocco, the winner of the Trophée Hassan II was in dominant form all week as he strode the fairways of the magnificent ocean-front Golf du Palais Royal in his FJ ICON golf shoes. After a stunning opening round 64, the 32-year old German took charge and eventually secured a three-shot wire-to-wire victory to lead home a podium dominated by FJ loyalists. The winner’s cheque for €250,000 moves him up to 15th in the Race to Dubai Standings and 51st in the Official World Golf Rankings.
“To stand over such an important put and deliver really shows the Mark of a Player and everyone at FJ is delighted that D.A. has not only earned his second PGA Tour victory, but also a coveted trip to The Masters, commented Russell Lawes, European Marketing Manager, FootJoy. “ With just a week to go until the first Major of the year, it is particularly pleasing to see our stable of FJ brand ambassadors playing their way into top form, so naturally I’m confident that our market-leading products will shine on the game’s biggest stage.”
The usage counts on both the European Tour and PGA Tour continued to highlight FootJoy’s position as the #1 Shoe and Glove in golf around the world. At the Shell Houston Open a commanding 64% of the field put their trust in the brand’s all-encompassing range of golf shoes, whilst 42% of competitors put their trust in FJ’s market-leading glove range. On the European Tour at the Trophée Hassan II an impressive 66% of the competitors chose to compete in the outstanding performance and comfort of FJ golf shoes and an equally impressive 42% in the fit and performance of FJ gloves.
Whether it is the all-round excellence of FJ ICON, the Xtreme Platform Stability of the XPS-1, the reliability and consistent performance of DryJoys Tour, the sports performance of the FJ Sport, the minimal construction and maximum feel of the brand new FJ M:PROJECT or the multi-functional, lifestyle-infused Contour Casual, FootJoy remains the overwhelming favourite for golfers of all abilities around the world.
