Round 3 of the Najeti Hotels et Golfs Open presented by Neuflize OBC produced 13 sub-par rounds and a field average score of 73.82. Tjaart Van Der Walt, Simon Thornton and Baptiste Chapellan share the lead on -4 with Seve Benson following close behind. We analyse their performances plus we round up the Genworth Statistics leaders.

Simon THORNTON -4

Simon Thornton fired the low round of the day, a 65 which included two eagles (one being a hole in one at the 11th) and three birdies against just one bogey. The dream round launched the 36 year old Irish golfer 34 places up into a tie for the lead, with his Genworth Statistics also showing a most impressive 3.91 average for Par 4 Scoring (ranking 1st). Sunday will be a big day for Simon as he competes for the first European Tour / Challenge Tour title of his career.

Tjaart VAN DER WALT -4

Tjaart Van Der Walt converted one eagle and two birdies against two bogeys and a double bogey on his way to an Even Par 71, giving himself a great chance for a wire to wire victory tomorrow (and the first European Tour / Challenge Tour title of his career). Looking at his Genworth Tournament Statistics, the 38 year old South African ranks 8th for both Driving Accuracy and Greens in Regulation, plus he ranks high for each of the putting categories (including 1st for Putts per GIR).

Baptiste CHAPELLAN -4

Baptiste Chapellan converted three birdies against one bogey on his way to a third round 69, making it a three way tie for the lead with one round to go. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 25 year old French golfer is performing well across the different hole types (being the Par 3’s / Par 4’s / Par 5’s), but most impressive of all he has dropped fewer shots than any other player in the field. Baptiste will also be attempting to win the first European Tour / Challenge Tour title of his career tomorrow and it will no doubt be extra special if he can do it on home soil.

Seve BENSON -3

Seve Benson converted three birdies against two bogeys on his way to a third round 70, sitting one shot behind the leading trio. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 26 year old English golfer is looking impressive, ranking 4th for Driving Accuracy and 2nd for Greens in Regulation, plus he has accumulated more birdies than any other player in the field (14 in total). Being a proven three-time European Challenge Tour winner, Seve is perhaps the favourite going into Sunday.
