Travis Perkins have agreed a one year extension to their title sponsorship of the Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters through to 2014.
The announcement was made on the eve of the 2013 edition, which takes place over the Duke’s Course at Woburn Golf Club for the 13th consecutive year.
It will be the tenth tournament Travis Perkins have supported on the Senior Tour, having first sponsored the Wentworth Senior Masters from 2002-2005 followed by the Senior Masters at Woburn since 2008.
Last year record crowds of over 23,000 people watched Irishman Des Smyth claim his second Senior Masters title in three years, with the tournament continuing to be one of the most popular on the Senior Tour schedule.
Andy Stubbs, Managing Director of the European Senior Tour, said: “Travis Perkins’ superb support of the Senior Masters at Woburn Golf Club has enabled us to collectively develop the tournament into one we are extremely proud of, and one which is very popular with the public.
“We have had record crowds at Woburn in recent years in an event where the wonderful facilities provided by His Grace, the Duke of Bedford, and low scoring have helped create an exciting atmosphere and some notable champions.
“Therefore, we are delighted that Travis Perkins have extended their sponsorship, as we look forward to another tournament over the Duke’s Course this week.”
John Carter, Deputy Chief Executive, the Travis Perkins Group, said: “We are delighted to support the
Senior Masters for another year, and to seeing so many of golf’s leading names taking part in the Tournament in the beautiful surroundings of Woburn Golf Club.
“The continuing superb event management of the European Senior Tour and Woburn Golf Club make this event a great experience for competitors and spectators."
Smyth defends his title against one of the strongest fields of the 2013 Senior Tour season, which includes four European Ryder Cup Captains – Mark James, Sam Torrance, Ian Woosnam and Colin Montgomerie, who makes his debut in the £300,000 event.
Recent winners of the Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters include the Senior Tour’s most successful player Carl Mason, champion in 2006 and 2007, Zimbabwean Tony Johnstone (2009), former Ryder Cup player Gordon J Brand (2008) and Boonchu Ruangkit (2011).
