Graeme Storm’s outstanding 67 ensured he shared the clubhouse lead with Rafael Cabrera Bello and Grégory Bourdy at the ISPS Handa Wales Open.
England’s Storm was eight shots adrift of overnight leader Espen Kofstad following his opening round 72 at The Celtic Manor Resort.
However, he found the Midas touch today when hitting seven birdies, which were offset by three bogeys.
That ensured he, Spain’s Cabrera Bello and France’s Grégory Bourdy set the early second round target, of three under par.
Cabrera Bello managed a round of 68, while Bourdy delivered a disappointing 72.
Yet their overall total was still four adrift of Kofstad’s effort yesterday.
The Norwegian, who produced seven birdies and an eagle in his opening round 64, began at 12:35pm and immediately managed another gain having teed off on the 11th.
