Espen Kofstad remained at the summit of the the ISPS Handa Wales Open leaderboard despite failing to repeat his first round heroics at The Celtic Manor Resort.
Kofstad dominated the opening act of the tournament when hitting a wonderful 64 in Wales.
He could not emulate those efforts on the front nine today yet was two shots ahead of home favourite Liam Bond and England’s Chris Wood.
Kofstad threatened another charge when birdying the par five 11th, which he started on. But gains on that hole and 15 were offset by bogeys on 14 and 16.
Bond produced a fine 68 to move to five under par and claim the clubhouse lead, while Wood was on the same score through four holes.
Earlier, Graeme Storm moved into contention with 67, the joint-best round of the day. Also in the clubhouse on three under were Spain’s Rafael Cabrera Bello and France’s Grégory Bourdy.
