Three birdies in his first nine holes has Laurie Canter on top of the leaderboard in the early stages of the Open Blue Green Côtes d'Armor Bretagne after fog delayed the start of play by four hours on Thursday morning.
The Englishman carded red figures at ten, 11 and 17 to post three under par at the turn, and he is alongside former Amateur Champion Alan Dunbar, after the Northern Irishman matched Canter by birdieing three of his first nine holes.
There is a strong French contingent queued up behind, with the likes of Challenge Tour winners Victor Riu and Benjamin Hebert a shot back at two under par alongside compatriot Olivier Rozner.
While Scotland’s Jamie McCleary is also going well on the same mark in a tie for third, as is Welshman Rhys Enoch, who is a shot further back at one under par at the half way stage of his opening round.
He is alongside the likes of Byeong-hun An, Jin Jeong and Moritz Lampert, to name a few of the group tied in eighth place two shots off the leading mark.
