England’s Adam Wootton grabbed the first round lead at the Qualifying School’s First Stage at the Roxburghe Hotel and Golf Course in Scotland.

The top 17 (and ties) of the Roxburghe’s 73 competitors will progress to Second Stage, with Wootton leading the way after an opening four under par 68 saw him establish an early one stroke lead over five players – Mexico’s Mario Clemens, the English duo of Andrew Cheese and Matthew Daley and Scottish pair Paul Ferrier and amateur James White.

One of golf’s most demanding examinations, the Qualifying School will see over 800 hopefuls compete over three Stages in a bid to win one of 25 places on The European Tour’s Race to Dubai.
