Sweden’s Krister Eriksson posted a brilliant third round of ten under par 62 to put himself into prime position to make it through to Second Stage of The European Tour’s Qualifying School.

The Swede started the third round at Golfclub Schloss Ebreichsdorf ten shots behind leader Rodolfo Cazaubon but his sensational effort, that included a front nine score of 29, enabled Eriksson to close the gap on Cazaubon to three going into the final round after the Mexican stayed in pole position with a three under 69 to move to 15 under for the week.

Finland’s Kalle Samooja posted a third round 67 to join Eriksson in a tie for second place, but the focus on Friday’s final round will upon those players in and around 22nd place.

With the top 22 players (and ties) surviving until at least the next Stage of the Qualifying School Marathon, all that matters to the 53 players who survived the third round cut is the score required to keep the dream of playing on The European Tour alive.

With such stakes on the line, the final round of any Stage of the Qualifying School is among the most pressure-filled moments in any player’s career.

The men feeling the most pressure tomorrow at the Golfclub Schloss Ebreichsdorf will be the 17 players who are either on or one shot either side of the current qualifying mark of six under par.
