This week European Tour Weekly travels to Scotland where a host of stars from the worlds of entertainment and sport join a world-class field of golfers for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns welcome one of the strongest fields ever assembled for this popular event and ETW will bring you the latest views from the players on the eve of the championship.
Last year saw South African Branden Grace hold off a challenge from Thorbjorn Olesen to win his fifth title of the season. He started the week with a European Tour record-equalling 60 at Kingsbarns and eventually ended up winning with a tournament record 22 under par total. It was Grace’s biggest victory of his career so far and he speaks to ETW about his win in Scotland twelve months ago.
Our review this week comes from Italy and ETW will bring you the best of the action from the 70° OPEN D’ITALIA LINDT held at Golf Club Torino.
Whilst in Italy ETW met up with Matteo Delpodio, who along with the Molinari brothers grew up playing at Golf Club Torino, the venue for the 70° OPEN D’ITALIA LINDT. Delpodio should have taken his pilot’s licence exam the weekend after the 2012 Qualifying School Final Stage, but had to reschedule after taking the 14th card, which earned him a rookie season on The European Tour this year.
This week sees Ryder Cup Captains Paul McGinley and Tom Watson meet up in Scotland as part of the “Year to Go” events for next September’s matches at Gleneagles. ETW will bring you highlights of the celebrations as the event marks the legacy of The Ryder Cup being staged in Scotland for the first time in more than 40 years.
Together with all of the latest news and statistics from the Tour, this completes another edition of European Tour Weekly.
